Frozen Treats for Hot Summer Dogs

I help my mutts stay cool and hydrated on these humid summer afternoons by offering them healthy frozen treats that are easy to make and don’t require cooking. These recipes include only three ingredients each.

There are three ingredients in these treats: (1) canned pink salmon (with bones and without salt or added oil), (2) an apple, and (3) enough water to reach a runny consistency when blended. Freeze in ice cube trays or your favorite silicone molds. This flavor is a big hit with my dogs and I like that the fish bones provide them with a natural boost of glucosamine and chondroitin.

The three ingredients in these paw print treats are (1) strawberries, (2) plain kefir (or yogurt), and (3) water. I like providing these because they’re nutrient rich and full of probiotic bacteria and yeasts that aid in digestion and maintaining a healthy digestive system.

Ginger and Rex aren’t picky about their treats as long as you’re willing to share.

Griz is never quite sure what’s happening but he’s happy to be here.

These are some good dogs waiting patiently for me to snap a couple photos.
